Focus Tower

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 25, 2026c

Focus Tower is a local-first product family (Chrome extension and mobile apps). We do not operate servers, accounts, or analytics. Your settings and usage stats stay on your device.

Summary

  • No personal information is collected by the developer.
  • No data is transmitted to us or to third-party services.
  • All extension data is stored locally in your browser via Chrome’s storage APIs.

Data stored on your device

To work as intended, Focus Tower saves the following information locally in chrome.storage.local or chrome.storage.session:

  • Your block list (domains you choose to block)
  • Temporary allowances and break timers
  • Custom motivational quotes you add
  • Time spent on blocked sites (aggregated per domain, for in-extension stats)
  • Your language preference
  • On-screen position of the gate watcher eye (per site)

This data is used only to provide blocking, breaks, stats, and UI preferences inside the extension. It never leaves your browser through Focus Tower.

Permissions

Focus Tower requests Chrome permissions solely to deliver its features:

  • Host access (<all_urls>) — to redirect blocked sites to the gate page and show the watcher on allowed visits
  • Storage — to save your settings and stats locally
  • Declarative Net Request — to block configured domains
  • Tabs and windows — to track active browsing for time-on-site stats
  • Alarms — to expire timed breaks automatically

Browsing activity is processed on your device only. We do not receive URLs, page content, or browsing history.

Mobile app permissions

The Focus Tower mobile app (iOS and Android) uses on-device enforcement only. No browsing or app-usage data is transmitted to us.

  • iOS Screen Time (Family Controls) — to let you pick apps to block and show system shields when you try to open them
  • iOS App Group storage — to share block lists, allowances, and shield text between the app and system extensions on your device
  • Android Accessibility Service — to detect when a blocked app comes to the foreground and show the focus shield (you enable this in system settings)
  • Android local storage — to save your block list, quotes, language, and timed allowances

Optional support links (for example Patreon) open in your browser. We do not require an account to use the app.

Third parties

Focus Tower does not include advertising, analytics, or social trackers. It does not sell or share data with third parties. The project website may load fonts from Google Fonts; that is separate from the extension itself.

Children

Focus Tower is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage. You can also clear extension data from Chrome’s extension settings or by resetting the extension from its popup.

Changes

We may update this policy if the extension’s behavior changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any revision.
